Ready-to-Use Monterey B.t. Organic Caterpillar Killer
Category: plant b
Monterey B.t. RTU, an insect killer designed for use on caterpillars and worm-type insects, should be applied when worms or caterpillars are first noticed. The application should be repeated at five 5-7 day intervals while they are active, and more frequently to control heavy infestations. The product must be applied thoroughly to the top and bottom of the foliage, and reapplied after heavy rains.
To be effective, Monterey B.t. RTU must be ingested by the worms or caterpillars. After ingesting the insecticide, they immediately stop feeding, though they may otherwise appear unaffected for several days. The product may be applied up to and on the day of harvest.
Monterey B.t. RTU is designed for use on a variety of plants, including broccoli, celery, cabbage, turnip greens, mustard greens, cauliflower, melons, lettuce, tomatoes, shade trees, and ornamentals. It has no effect on birds, earthworms, or beneficial insects such as honeybees or ladybugs.
Monterey B.t. RTU is OMRI (Organic Materials Review Institute) listed for organic gardening, ensuring it complies with all organic standards under the USDA's National Organic Program (NOP). The product instantly mixes with water and should be applied using either a trigger spray bottle or pressure tank sprayer. Carefully read and use according to label directions.
The active ingredient in Monterey B.t. RTU is Bacillus thuringiensis subspecies kurstaki strain SA-12 solids, spores, and Lepidopteran active toxins. When insects eat the treated foliage, they immediately stop feeding and damaging plants.
